CARE FOR OUR JEWELRY

• Keep out of direct sunlight. Store pieces in dark places, preferably in soft bags or in a velvet lined drawer.
• Rub the metals and gemstones with a soft cloth to remove fingerprints and oils that can cause discoloration.  Do not wear your jewelry while swimming or bathing. 
• Do not use steam or chemical cleaners.  Our jewelry is handmade and delicate; it cannot withstand intense heat or chemicals. 

Metals & Materials

• Gold Filled is a fine layer of gold bonded through pressure to another metal. Gold Filled pieces should not tarnish or cause a reaction to the skin.  (All of our earring wires are 14k gold filled)
• Gold Vermeil is heavy gold plating on .925 sterling silver. 
• Gold Plated is gold plating on base metal.
• Gold Electroplating is gold plating bonded to a form that is not metal. (Our antler pendants are electroplated)
• Brass or Base Metals are combined metals in various ratios commonly used in vintage jewelry with gold plating or polishing.  Brass is a combination of zinc and copper.  Base Metals may contain nickel. 
• Glass, stone, and other components that are used in our pieces are chosen for their color, texture, and/or unique qualities.  They should be treated with the same delicate care as all of our metals and gemstones.
• Stringing materials used by Sugar include but are not limited to: Soft Flex (stainless steel stringing cord), rawhide leather and coated leather, Stretch Magic (elastic).

GEMSTONES & QUALITIES

Because gemstones are natural, they have occlusions, faults, and sometimes uneven surfaces.  We prefer to use gemstones with an organic feel and naturally interesting color, therefore they are not perfect. 

Amazonite is useful for energizing and harmonizing the heart and throat chakras, bringing an enhanced ability to clearly communicate the wisdom of the heart. It is said to remove blockages to emotional bonding with others and to help one 'shine' in the world.

Amethyst  offers protection from negative energies in one's environment, and that it helps one to stay on one's highest path. It is said to enhance one's psychic abilities and aid in healing.  A stone of sobriety, it also aids in sleeping and enhancing and remembering dreams.  Crown Chakra

Ametrine is a gemstone combining mental clarity and strength of will with a high sense of spiritual purpose and purity of one's energies. It can activate the third and 7th chakras, putting one's personal power in service to one's highest aspirations. It can dispel negative energies in one's environment.

Apatite offers an energetic focus on clearing and stimulating the third eye chakra. It also stimulates inner visions, enhances psychic ability, and helps one to understand one’s current life karmic reality.

Aquamarine is the best stone for the fifth chakra, the energy center at the throat, and that it enhances one's communication skills. It is said to be a cooling and calming stone, good for soothing sunburns, fevers and tempers. enhances intellectual abilities. Safety at sea. Throat Chakra.

Blue Lace Agate can awaken and energize the throat chakra, helping one to communicate clearly & concisely one's inner knowing. It is also said to enhance intuition, promote peace of mind, soothe anger, ease tension and help one connect with the Goddess energy.

Carnelian is a stone which can powerfully activate the second chakra, for enhanced creativity and heightened sexuality. It is said to be a good stone for bringing people who are 'too spiritual' into an enjoyment and appreciation of the physical world.

Chalcedony is a stone bringing stability and nurturing to a group, and transmutes negative energies. It is also a highly creative stone and balances and brings harmony to the mind, body, spirit and emotions.

Chalcedony (blue) has a calming frequency, helps to center and soothe the emotional body and stops worry.

Chrysoprase brings peace to the heart and well-being to one's emotional, mental and physical states. It is said to aid in releasing stress, healing 'heartbreak', calming anger and soothing fear.  Heart Chakra.

Citrine enhances creativity, mental clarity, will power and sensuality. It is said to enhance alertness, to attract wealth and prosperity, and to connect the mind to the higher spiritual realms.

Clear Quartz or Rock Crystal crystals can be used to amplify any intention or desire. To 'program' a crystal for any purpose, one need simply hold or touch the stone while concentrating on the desired result. It is a very powerful healer. It absorbs, stores, releases, and regulates energy. It raises energy to the highest possible level and works on all levels of being. It also aids in concentration and memory.

Coral protects against negative energy and also prevents the loss of energy. It is also said to strengthen love and one’s need for partnership, and makes the wearer immune to envy and resentment. The nature of its growth pattern promotes the growth of tissue and bone in the wearer.

Diamond has a very high frequency energy. It stimulates and opens all chakras and encourages one to perceive how life’s trials and lessons can be put to good use. It magnifies emotions, good and bad.

Green Jade can assist in various types of self-healing, both emotional and physical. It is associated with the heart, and is also believed to help one to find prosperity and abundance.

Hematite can assist in purification of the energies of our physical and energetic circulatory systems. It is the the most widely used stone for 'grounding', and it is said to energize both the root chakra at the base of the spine & the 'Earth Star' below the feet.

Howlite is an extremely calming stone. It links to spiritual dimensions, opening the mind to receive information. Howlite also aids in reaching one’s goals spiritually and/or materially. It teaches patience, and stills the mind for mediation and sleep.

Iolite opens one to visions, awareness, and communication from higher vibratory realms. It is a stone of visionary art and aids creative expression of spiritually inspired ideas and ideals through all artistic endeavors.

Kyanite can strongly activate the 'third eye' chakra, for enhanced inner visioning, greater psychic ability and lucid dreaming, astral travel, telepathy & clairvoyance. It is said increase intuition and insight, and to assist creativity.

Labradorite is a stone which assists one in the discovery and practice of 'magic', the use of one's powers of mind to affect the physical world. It is said to unleash the power of imagination and to help release limitations.

Morganite, a type of Beryl closely related to Aquamarine, opens and clears the heart chakra. It promotes the healing of fear, resentment, and anger.

Moss Agate can enhance the achievement of personal goals, the acquisition of prosperity, the healing of wounds from past lives, the ability to communicate with nature spirits and the grounding of one's spiritual energies within the physical body.

Onyx (black) is a grounding stone connecting with the electromagnetic energy of the Earth.

Onyx (white) stimulates the higher chakras and enhances dream work. It also facilitates a connection with lunar energies.

Opal is an emotionally supportive and nurturing gemstone. It alleviates worry, chronic stress and depression.
