Why: Sugar - Color, color, color with a dash of texture and a hint of flash. Sharakaraa – (Sanskrit, origin of the word “sugar”) – healing gemstone jewelry Philosophy: To create interesting and sometimes simple adornments while maintaining personal design integrity. Reference Point: water, wind, the anatomy and whims of fashion, music and sound, architecture, juxtaposition of color and texture, Calder’s sense of humor, the gemstones, vintage jewelry, candy colors and packaging, friends and their latest inspirations… Playlist: Electronic, Lounge, Classical, College Rock (90s) while working, bad R&B and Hip Hop when not Previous Jobs: Bait Girl in Longboat Key, Personal Shopper, Event Planner and Promoter Addictions: chocolate, itunes, fresh squeezed orange juice, magazines, iced tea Goal: To maintain these jewelry lines at an “artisan” level in order to keep creating very small batch designs, one of a kind pieces, and a personal relationship with wholesale and retail clients; hopefully extending the jewelry’s influence beyond this continent to justify international travel adventures.
